Rachael Hands, LCSW, Certified EMDR Therapist, Consultant In Training

Rachael Hands is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Certified EMDR Therapist, EMDR Consultant In Training, and founder of Heart in Hand Psychotherapy. She received her Bachelors in Psychology at Stony Brook University and her Masters in Social Work from NYU Silver School of Social Work. Rachael is R-TEP/G-TEP trained which means she can treat individuals who have been in a recent traumatic event such as a natural disaster or act of violence. Rachael is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey and Florida.
Rachael works with individuals 18 years and older of different cultural backgrounds. This experience encompasses clients with anxiety and depression, difficult life transitions, grief and loss, parenting issues, addiction and substance abuse, PTSD, trauma, and subpar school and job performance. 
Rachael’s approach to treatment is client centered meaning that she views her clients as the experts on their own lives. We detail your goals of treatment and break them down into smaller incremental goals. Rachael believes empathy is critical to building our therapeutic relationship and it is important for your therapist to come from a non-judgmental stance. 
Rachael’s concentration is in EMDR and specializes in trauma, dissociation and somatic work. Together we will determine which therapy approach is most suitable for your needs.
